I got a tuna melt. It was the complete opposite of a tuna melt. The pita was hard and the tuna was cold. The cheese was nasty and not even warm. I also got onion strings which were more like charred onion strings. Never coming here again. The food was horrid.

Careful, folks, this isn't the hipster joint across the street, this is just a regular old restaurant. Had dinner there last night because we wanted to try something new but didn't want to wait in line anywhere, and this turned out to be a great choice. We started with the onion...thing (loaf? they called it something strange). It tasted just fine, but I couldn't see any advantage to serving deep-fried onions in a weird tangle instead of just as onion rings. Still, tasty. I built my own burger, and the meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the toppings i chose worked well together (grilled onions, grilled pineapple, swiss cheese, bbq sauce + mayo). My companion had the prime rib dip, and I intend to try that next time! My only small complaint is that the burger, which was something like $13, didn't come with fries or salad or anything. Just the burger. We split a tiramisu for dessert, and while not the most authentic version I've ever had, it was delicious. Overall, a great place to grab dinner once in a while.

Not going back! My husband and I ordered a burger and Reuben sandwich. Waited over 30 minutes. Burger arrived...nothing on the plate...not even a pickle spear. Ordered onion straws and they were NOT brought out with our order. Finished eating and still no onion straws. Waitress never came back to let us the know the status. A lemonade was $3.75...tasted like a powder mix. Seriously.

I haven't been to this place in a very long time, but I'm so glad I did. The food was so yummy and the portions were big, so if you're hungry, this is the place to go! I did the "build your own burger" and I had the turkey burger and sweet potato French fries. The sweet bbq added the perfect topping! Our waiter was a little pushy, but nothing disturbing. My friend had the salmon and she said it was just as amazing! Looking forward to going back there soon! I wonder what's the different between the grill and the garage.

Grabbed an early dinner with a childhood friend of mine. Thursday afternoon around 3:00, the "hostess" didn't speak to us, she simply grabbed two menus and walked toward a booth. It took a while for the waitress to acknowledge us, the restaurant was very empty. We were never told about the specials. The chicken tenders were just okay (not seasoned well), Mac 'n cheese was very bland, the garlic mashed potatoes were good and the broccoli cheese soup was good too. The bread was hard, the wait time for our food was a bit long. We noticed that "the regulars" were acknowleged . However another "hostess".was standing at the door and did speak or thank us for spending our money in their establishment. Nice restaurant....Doubt if I'll ever go back I did not feel welcome ;(

Went out on Monday night with my SO and we were quoted around a 30 minute wait, but it was only about ten! Great start. Our waitress took a few minutes to get to us but was efficient. Didn't offer deserts but whatever. He had the vegan burger and said it was really good, and the mac and cheese. I had the Chop shop salad and it was AWESOME. I got the ham and onions on the side. Glad I did, the ham was too smoky/spicy for me. My boyfriend ate all of the onion strings though. The Detroit Locker drink was Realllly good, and I had the house red and it was just like it said, Broke ass lol but ok Overall will be back. Love the atmosphere.

We chose this place because it was a weekend evening and most places around this area have a huge wait. This place didn't seem overly crowded but had enough cars in their parking lot (a parking lot being a one-up on most places in Royal Oak) that it is good enough to attract repeat customers. The no-wait situation I attribute to it not being trendy like the (admittedly better) place across the street with its parking and waiting issues. I'm not a big rib person. I like them but it's not something I order at a restaurant. That being said, I didn't order what seems to be their specialty. Not much on the menu was really calling out to me though. I started with a bowl of French onion soup. The soup was good with a generous layer of melted cheese on top. I ordered a dish that I think was called Santa-Fe Chicken or something like that. It wasn't bad but not something I'd order again. A boneless breast with barbeque sauce and melted cheese on it served on a bed of rice pilaf. Not bad but nothing I'd order again. The price seemed a bit high for what it was. There may have not been a wait to get a table but it took a long time for the food to show up. I don't like to trash places too hard on Yelp unless they really really deserve it, and I don't think this place deserves it. By the time I had looked over the menu I figured this just wasn't my kind of place. Food- Soup was good. Olive Garden breadsticks? Main course was decent but unimpressive. Value- Not terribly overpriced but seemed a bit high for what it was. Service- Pretty slow, but they were fairly busy. Maybe if I was more in the mood for ribs I would have liked it more. They seem to do good business, but it's just not my kind of place.

Ordered dessert and didn't find out that they were sold out until the rest of my table was already eating their desserts.

So I think all the positive comments about decor and service are actually about the Vinsetta Garage across the street. This is the old make your own burger joint that used to have good burgers. No one greeted a party of 5 for a solid two min when we entered. Dark is the best way to describe the inside. Waitress was friendly. Ordered got the apps and she never checked back. Empty waters for 5 glasses and no waitress. When the food came it was very blah. Medium means some pink, even just a little. All the burgers came back well done 45 min later. Missing fries that came when I was done with the burger. No manager, just looked like 7 girls walking around trying not to work. Did not complain once but she apologized. She already knew it was a terrible experience eating there. Should have turned around when we weren't greeted.

Wow. I can see why this place is popular. The Upsides: great decor, great beer selection, great service, great food including world-beating macaroni. Huge portions. Reasonable prices. The Downsides: Parking. Forget trying to find a space, just use the free valet parking (don't forget to tip the valets). Noise: the interior is loud when it's crowded - and from what I'm told that's constant. We lucked out and got seats by the windows, which is a much quieter area. The size of the menu - so hard to choose with all the selections available. We had curds and cheese covered fries for appetizers. Two of us had pasta bowls, one had the stuffed poblano pepper and I had one of the gourmet Mac and cheeses - the one with the ground beef. There were so many good menu options I want to go back in spite of the noise level and try more. If you've read some of my other reviews you know how I hate restaurant noise - but that's how good the food is.

Just go, and don't be deterred from the line, the wait will be worth it. I took my wife & 16 month old kid there and they both loved it. My son loves Mac & cheese and gobbled it right up. My wife got the vegan burger but with a real burger and loved it. Service was good and they have a good beer selection.

Can't go wrong with new menu item, Prime Rib Dip. Old-style sandwich bread baked to perfection and a perfect compliment to a very generous portion of savory sliced prime rib. The bread is perfectly softened by plenty of dip deliciousness provided. I added an order of sweet potato fries - - these were made perfectly, probably the best I have ordered in the area - not greasy, crisp and tasty and well presented. If you're in the Royal Oak area and tired of overpriced parking meters (IF you can find parking), and overly loud and crowded restaurants where you can hardly hear your company, then do yourself a favor and give Vinsetta Grill a try if you haven't already or in a while. It's fun, friendly, relaxed and I have found it to be one of the nicest places to dine locally. The Prime Rib Dip is a home run hit and what prompted me to write this review, though...pictures next time!

Visited with some locals who are regulars; while I enjoyed my ribs (mexican, spice was nicely spicy) I clearly ordered wrong when I saw the burgers. They are massive, they look juicy and a burger is what I will get when I visit again.

Decent. Had the Fettucini Alfredo only because they were out of my first choice - Filet Mignon. Pretty basic. Breadsticks were delish! Waitress was friendly but never offered an appetizer and just started taking orders. Bill took really long to bring - and the kids were starting to get antsy. Biggest pet peeve: it was my first time there and the the menu had NO descriptions on it! And the waitress was moving so fast she didn't give us a chance to ask any questions. Biggest plus: wait for a table of 7 only took about 30 minutes.

I'm reviewing all the 3 star joints at once I guess... I've been there a few times. We get the build your own burger - there are good things and bad about the place. The good: usually the wait isn't terrible. Even when it looks bad, it is probably only 10 minutes or so. The bar makes good mixed drinks. I know others feel it is pricy, people in my party think they make good martinis. If you've had a bad one, you appreciate a good one. The onion loaf and fries are little fried plates of heaven. The servers are typically great with the exception of what is listed below... Anyway they usually are good with refills and are not snobby. The bad: I can't figure out if the hostess is an a-hole or what but she is snippy. The more you come the better she gets but when you first start coming it isn't very welcoming. The staff hovers around the hostess stand and makes you feel like you are imposing when you want to get a table. Sometimes they are simply complaining about next week's schedule, but when I am standing there waiting for a table, I don't care that you have to work a double next Thursday. The first few toppings are free for the build a burger, but then they add on price if you get extra. I think that is chintzy. Don't charge me $.40 for extra pickles, just give them to me...geez. The turkey burger is dry.

Grill, not Garage which has long line and hamburgers. I was disappointed. I had been once a couple years before and thought the food was good despite the decor being really dated. It's still really dated, but if felt dark and not dirty, but old. The food was mediocre. If they have a major overhaul, menu and decor , I would try again, but there was happier places to be,.

Not sure that I really have complaints or I just expected something different. Didn't have reservations so we totally expected to wait, and we did, about 30 minutes. My issue is the attitude the older white woman has. She does not greet anyone when they approach the hostess station. You have to tell her what you are there for, how many, and then you have to ask what the wait time will be. She never really offers or asks you anything, just kind of stares at you in an unwelcoming way. The food was good and burger simply huge. Drinks are a tad weak for the price. Not sure this should be considered one of the best places in the area, but it is good. Just needs a few tweaks for me.

The server Julie was young, upbeat and right there when needed but not overbearing as so many waitresses are now, The chicken dish I had was done just right and was a good size portion. The wedge salad I had a great flavored dressing. Great desert menu too.

I keep hoping that when I go to Vinsetta Grill that they will update their menu. My boyfriend always gets the fried shrimp which are really good, but I choose more healthy meals like chicken. And each time I've had the chicken, with yesterday being no exception, it is rubbery, like it came out of a microwave. No grill marks, not even fake ones. Hoping that they will provide some other choices, like wraps and different salads than the traditional Caesar or Sante Fe.

Don't confuse this place with Vinsetta Garage, which is located across Woodward on the west side. I was supposed to meet my cousin at Vinsetta Garage and came here by mistake. If you do end up here by mistake, order the onion ring appetizer. It's really tasty and will tide you over until your cousin starts calling wondering what's taking you so long to meet him at Vinsetta Garage. Then you pick up and you're like, "dude, i AM here," then he's all like, "my ass you're here, I don't see you," only for him then to be like, "wait, are you at that Vinsetta Grill place across the street?," and then you're like, "FUCK, I'll be over there in a minute let me close out this tab."

This place is just awful. My husband had a Build-A-Burger and I had the Onion Soup and Chicken Strip platter. The burger/beef was flavorless and the onion and tomato where sliced an inch thick each making it impossible to eat so took them off - leaving just cheese and pickles. He eats a lot of burgers and said, unequivocally, this was probably one of the worst he's had. My Onion Soup was really salty and the Chicken strips where completely bland. They are chicken strips, how can they not have flavor? Paper dipped in ranch would have tasted better.

I guess I was expecting better. We went there mainly because we didn't feel like waiting a hour at the Garage. We got a seat right away and parking was not a issue so that was the plus. Our drinks arrived promptly and we ordered appetizers. The pickle chips are good, nothing special. The bread basket was less then impressive with breadsticks with garlic salt. I ordered the NY Strip with mac and cheese and corn on the cob. Boy was I unimpressed. The steak was the farthest thing from tender. only about a half inch thick. No seasoning at all and was tough to chew. The mac and cheese could of easily been made out of a box and the corn on the cob was way overcooked and extremely soft. How do you mess up corn on the cob? My wife had the shrimp kabobs and she said they tasted good. Overall not impressed at all, especially for the price. I do not plan on returning.

This is one of my favorite places. I'm suprised to see so many negative reviews. This is my place. I love the ribs. The mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever had. Second probably to Slows BBQ alone. The build your own burger is great! And the turkey burger is super tasty, juicy and well spiced. The only complaint I'd have is that the lack of TVs, one maybe 2 tiny tiny ones makes this place an awful place for sports watching. Which I suppose has its pros and cons. No rowdy crowd but I also cant see the Tigers score. Ill keep going, and keep enjoying. I wish they had better reviews.

Service was great, atmosphere was enjoyable, however the menu was not impressive and felt it was slightly* over priced. The menu has fine dining pricing but the restaurant does not in any way have the feel of a fine dining establishment, it is very simplistic. I had the "Sante Fe Salad" and although it was a large salad, it was very boring and lacked the majority of ingredients that would qualify it as a Sante Fe Style Salad... the salad, mostly a lot of Romaine lettuce and lightly* garnished with cherry tomato, shredded cheddar cheese and bacon crumbles. No Salsa, no avocado, no black beans or corn salsa, no spices or seasonings.... it was just a massive pile of lettuce. My date had the Salmon, it was cooked to perfection and tasted very fresh but was a very small portion. The dish was piled high with arugula and plenty of Green Beans over compensating for the lack of Protein. Not impressed. I will not return nor recommend.

Nice atmosphere but extremely overpriced. We were shocked when the bill came. The food was acceptable but the only thing worth mentioning in the review were the sweet potato fries. Whatever you do don't order a drink. They charged us 7.50 for a weak jack and coke.

I liked the cozy atmosphere of the place, and the fried pickle appetizer. The turkey burger was very dry, and our wait time for the food was 2 hours. Most disappointing was the tiramisu. They obviously took it out of the freezer minutes before it was served to me, and was mostly frozen. Meh!

I have a confession to make. Originally I wanted to go to my usual hotspot, Vinsetta Garage, but the wait was over an hour, so instead we decided to hop over across the street and try this place. I wasn't disappointed! They have a build your own burger menu...which satisfied my burger craving. The waiter was awesome. They screwed up a couple of my burger toppings but he made sure to bring them out ASAP and comped our coffees at the end because of their mistake. The fries have to be ordered a la carte, but you get huge portions, so they're big enough to split between two people. Cream puff for dessert...that was yummy! I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here.

Food was wonderful tonight, ate way too much. My Roast beef with au jus sauce was soo yummy. The carrot cake was amazing. Add a glass of Stella Rosso and I'm in heaven. Atmosphere very comfortable, a mix of ages. Monday evening was no wait at 6:15pm. Server was very friendly, and since the servings are generous the price is reasonable. Maybe it's because I was starving. Maybe it's because we found this place en route to another restaurant that we love. Or maybe the waitress had PMS. However it was, the odds were stacked against the grill that night. Here's the part that drew us in--yes, there were people. Tables full, wait staff bustling, and the outside sign is pretty. Also, the place we were initially headed toward was another fifteen or twenty minutes away, and I had the hungry NOW belly. Husband had the sick of driving brain, so we stopped. Unfortunately, finding a place and ordering right away did not mean our food would arrive promptly. The ache grew. I had ordered a Caesar salad and the Triple Decker Grilled Cheese, with visions of all that comfort cheese to alleviate the hurt and the cranky. But I think the waitress had other ideas. Drinks were late, salad was late, dishes were never cleared (like... empty glasses, big empty salad plate, still no entrees out.) When the food finally arrived, I realized to my dismay that the grilled cheese touting three different kinds of cheese is a little overwhelmed by the three huge grilled pieces of Texas-style toast. So much bread! So little cheese! Maybe three Kraft singles total or something. Also, my husband's grilled tuna was cold with a tiny slice of unmelted cheese under the tuna. Add, a tomato. It's easy to hate the reviews that are based on a single bad moment. I've since read really good things about Vinsetta Grill. But the real tell for me is that whenever I think of giving it another chance or even a second star, I see our waitress slamming down plates full of dry and under-developed food next to our dirty plates and glassware... And again I feel that nervous hopelessness in my stomach. Yes, it was one bad time, but I can't think of a reason (even for the burger options list) to give it another chance. Ugh, okay. Maybe for drinks or something, but you're buying.

We decided to come here after finding out the line across the street was 1.5 hours at 9 p.m.. My boyfriend had come here at lunch a few years ago and found it ok... This time we were pleasantly surprised! The bread was delicious, the service was great and the portions were quite large. The salad I ordered was big enough for about 3 full meals! It is a completely different atmosphere than the popular Vincetta Garage across the street, as this place is very dark and pretty quiet. The service was great! I didn't have dessert because I was so stuffed!!!! I would give this place a shot.

I have long thought the food at Vinsetta Grill was solid. My husband and I like to go there for their steak and ribs. Which is why I chose to go there for a little, post-work birthday celebration with my husband and her mother. But tonight we had a terrible, review-worthy experience, made worse by the owner's telling me over the phone "to come see him next time we come in" after I called him to complain. As if we'll be back. My husband has declared NEVER! First of all, we sat down with two guests and had a drink order taken. This order never, ever arrived. So we hunted down another waitress to get it. And she brought over the milk we ordered for our toddler, forgetting all the other drinks. This would be the last time we would be asked whether we wanted anything to drink. And it's worth noting, we were never given water. Our waitress took our dinner order, forgetting to ask what types of dressing we wanted on our salads, which turned out to not be importance since she never brought the salads that came with our dinners anyway! After a very long time waiting for food (since we never received water, bread or salad), we asked if we could have bread and water. Our waitress was completely annoyed at this question, perhaps because a bus boy or girl should have taken care of this? But irregardless, she was rude about it. Eventually, we got water and bread. But still not our other drinks. At this point, we had been here for well over a half hour and everybody at our table was talking about how bad our service was and starting to get mildly stressed out. I was also embarrassed that I had recommended the place. Several times, I considered getting up and complaining, but didn't do so only because I was with my husband's mother and her friend. Anyway, our dinner entrees arrived and were delicious, as usual. However, our waitress screwed up all the vegetable orders, forgetting who ordered green beans, corn and spinach. And never bothering to get it right. Our waitress also served our steaks and ribs with this: "Oops, I didn't bring enough steak knives" ... she was one short ... And then, she never came back with another one. (OK, I guess we'll share knives. We're family.) We ate the whole meal with no inquiry about whether we wanted more water, needed any sauces or anything. Let alone dessert, which was only important because, as I mentioned, it was my birthday. My mother-in-law could not locate the waitress to surprise me with a birthday treat, so she hunted down somebody else and I was brought a delicious little red velvet cupcake treat with a candle in it. She never asked if anybody else wanted anything desert-wise or coffee for that matter. By then, the meal was so anticlimactic it was nearly funny when the cake arrived. Everybody at my table was stressed out from such a terrible experience and felt bad. Ultimately, the bill was also incorrect. The waitress charged us for the creamed spinach that never arrived and when my husband pointed this out, she pointed out in return that she didn't charge us for the red velvet cake and left that off the bill because she felt bad for not delivering our salads! I have never had such a lousy dining experience anywhere - let alone on my birthday. I felt terribly guilty that my mother-in-law picked up the tab, too. Not to mention the fact I chose the place. So now, the best part! Upon leaving, I call the owner of the restaurant and recount this disaster to him. To which he says: Thanks for calling and come see me when you come in next time! Seriously?! I guess I'll try to enjoy my leftovers.

Should've listened to the reviews, but I was curious. After an evening trying to understand the strange decor (rustic contemporary?), indulging in slightly-under baked potato skins (a generous portion of 6), and the most underwhelming reuben I've made the miscalculation of ingesting (three slices of bread, the middle of which soaked up all the sauce and therefore was un-removeable), I can't say I'll be returning. My co-eater had a design-your-own burger, which he said was "simultaneously overwhelming and underwhelming (poor sauce flavor, overcooked red peppers, the smallest burger -1/3 lb - too large, etc)." Before your meal, expect them to bring out some bread for the table, which is basically garlic salt on oddly-sweet bread. This means you'll inhale it, but be left in satisfied. In the words of the wise, "I've never been here before- and now I know why. If you've never been here, you're not missing anything."

What a find! I've driven by Vinsetta Grill about one thousand times and I was intrigued but thought it would be too swanky for my budget. I was wrong. The menu consists of steak and seafood and ribs, but it also has many other less expensive options. From what I've experienced the taste and quality are superb. I had to go with the burger because of the options that you select on a half sheet of paper that is provided on each table. There is a choice of beef, turkey, veggie or chicken breast in 3 sizes (1/3 pound to 1 whole pound of meat). Each burger can also be "bunless" and eaten in a salad-like form. Each burger comes with a selection of cheese from the mundane (swiss) to the extraordinary (horseradish cheddar, feta, bleu, herbed goat cheese). Then one selects four toppings with special toppings for an extra cost that run the gamut from the typical garden, to the pickled, to chili and onion straws and even the bizzare (hard boiled egg). Then a sauce is selected, which doesn't include the typical ketchup and mustard (these are complimentary) but includes a whole range of different sauces to compliment any hamburger. The hamburgers come a la carte and fortunately there are many fried sides to accompany them for a small price. I tried the sweet potato fries which were crisp with a soft interior and had a great flavor. I prefer my sweet potato fries with honey, but no dip was served with them in the paper cone. The best item at the Vinsetta grill is the deep fried dill pickle chips which are amazing and served with ranch. I recommend them to anyone. They are not very sour but have a great flavor. The restaurant has a full bar with a few specialty drinks. I had the sidecar, which is hard to find since most places don't have brandy. The drink had a lot of ice so it got a little watered down, but it was really good. Next time I would have it shaken and served up. The restaurant is decorated very well. The interior is somewhat dark which makes the restaurant homey and warm with brightly colored walls and interesting architecture. The other delight was our server, Tammy, who was attentive, funny and a delight to have dinner with. I hope to go back to the Vinsetta Grill several more times in the future.

We've lived in the area for two-years now, and have always been curious about Vinsetta Grill. Upon our entrance, we were happy to see that it was somewhat busy and there was a decent buzz about the place. Unfortunately, the food did not match the decor, and we were wondering if the other patrons were on their first visit too...because there is no reason to frequent the Vinsetta Grill. First impression, we were presented with bread-sticks to start, and they were hands-down the saltiest bread-sticks my wife and I had ever eaten. We ordered an appetizer (spinach/art dip), and it came to our table literally boiling hot, accompanied by an extraordinary amount of tortilla chips. Unfortunately, the dip was not good...and could have been caused by our tongues being burned at first taste. Entree, I ordered the "Top-choice" Teriyaki Sirloin-MR-extra char. I received, however, a very RARE steak, with decent flavor, but only about 60% could be enjoyed due to such a poor cut of meat (full of tendons)! I presented my concern to the careless waiter, and was met with zero attempt to customer satisfaction. My wife ordered the daily special, which was a Pasta Alfredo...but, of course, protein was extra. Her dish was decent, but can easily be replicated by visiting the frozen section of your local grocery store. All in all, this was not a very good experience. You can get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse, and a better pasta at Kroger. Don't eat the bread-sticks if you have high blood pressure. Having passed by Vinsetta Grill thousands of times, and having heard rave reviews about their burgers (and beef ribs), I finally visited when I heard they had veggie burgers, unlike Redcoat Tavern. Even though the burgers are reasonably priced and taste fine, and include 4 toppings, fries, side salads, and soft drinks are overpriced to the point that your eyes might bulge from your sockets when you get your bill. I came with 2 "real" burger eaters, who weren't that impressed either. On one occasion it was busy, and the service buckled, big time. The next time we visited, it was not busy at all, but the service was still very slow. I'd pick Red Coat Tavern over Vinsetta any day, and I can't even eat anything at RCT!

My wife, grand daughter and I visited Vinsetta Grill (11-09-12, around 6:45 pm). We just left left the house, with no place in mind (as we often do) looking for something new. We stopped in and I felt this was a great choice. Our service was great and the food great! I am very picky, because I cook. My grand daughter had chicken tenders and fries. My wife had a chefs special, Fettuccine al Fredo w/ chicken. I had the Star Studded Sampler Platter. The tenders were not that good, which is why my grand daughter, was all over my wife's Fettuccine. My platter had a sample of all their ribs. All of them were good!! I am not a beef rib fan, Loved theirs. Loved the salad and cole slaw (very picky about slaw!!!). This place is great, take it from someone who travels all over and looking for great food!

This dining experience was so so. Nothing horrible, but no food choice I made was so compelling to return right away. It is a nice restaurant to catch up with friends. The booths are comfortable and the waitress didn't seem to mind us chatting for a few hours. I had the French Onion Soup...it was good, not spectacular but good. I also got the BLT - decent sandwich. My husband and I have this problem where we live like slobs and rarely do the dishes or grocery shop. So this makes for often ill-planned meals and lots of wasted gas while we drive around in a rage with no idea where to go. Even though we usually have a short list in mind of places we someday want to try, they never come to mind during this "pergatory." But on this one night I recommended the VG, where I've been wanting to go because of the rumor of Red Coat-like burgers. (Personally, Red Coat isn't worth the wait/noise/diarrhea to me) So, we went. First of all, this is a nice restaurant! Low-lit, comfortable, nice mix of newer music on the speakers and the service was top notch. We were promptly greeted the moment we entered the restaurant and our server was on top of everything. The menu was really diverse and, I felt, well-priced for the variety. Nightly specials are a plus. We both ordered burgers and here comes the hard part... It's NOT a Red Coat-like burger. Allow me to elaborate. The burgers go in 1/3lb or 2/3lb increments - but you don't actually get a bigger burger, you just get a single or a double. I did find the meat to be flavorful and juicy, and the variety of toppings was adventurous and they did arrive generously portioned. The buns they use are garbage. Like, not even toasted wonderbread garbage. I ordered my burger with caramelized onions (that were really only grilled, not actually caramelized), roasted garlic aioli (which was really kind of flavorless), sharp provolone cheese (also flavorless), shredded lettuce (whatevs) and pickles (also whatevs). BUT - my burger was a perfect medium (this never happens). Honestly, it was a LOT like a Red Robin burger but with a better variety of available toppings. The REALLY disappointing part was that the 1/3lb burger is $8 without any side and it's $10 if you want the 2/3lb burger without a side. We ordered the 50/50 fries & onion straws on the side for an additional $5, but it's an inadequate amount of sides. So for $23 we each got a burger and shared a side. So why four stars (my husband probably thinks I'm too generous)? I liked the atmosphere, service, food and overall feel. I'd rather eat a Red Robin burger at Vinsetta Grill than at Red Robin, and the better service and ambiance is worth the price to me. PLUS - it's an independent place and the rest of the menu looked great. This was the kind of restaurant that when I walked in I immediately started planning in my mind who I could eat dinner with here (like what family members or friends would dig this place). That's a good sign. I hope to be back soon, and I'll probably eat the burger.

The Good: The Pickle Chips are really pretty incredible. Tasty pickles fried to perfection- giving them a crisp outer shell- paired with a delicious ranch dipping sauce. I haven't tasted anything quite like this, and for that and only that, I gave Vinsetta an extra star from my initial 2 star impression. The Bad: Ok, so I couldn't have been more excited with anticipation of having the whole "Build Your Own Burger" option. There are tons of great choices of toppings and sauces on their menu. So it's cool that you can take your burger in any variety of flavor directions. Traditional, Greek, you name it. There's even an option to have your burger in a bowl if you're into the low carb diets. I wanted to go somewhat traditional so I opted for a burger with: horseradish cheddar cheese, dill pickles, yellow onion, pepperoncinis, tomatoes on their "Hamburger Bun." Perhaps the bun is where I went wrong? My burger was not medium as promised, it was definitely well. The meat itself tasted old so no amount of toppings mounted on top took away from the underlying truth. The beef used was just plain bad! Then to top it off, the bun could not hold the huge mountain of toppings so I had a horrible mess of burger innards piled up on my plate. So in my opinion, the Vinsetta Grill could benefit by investing in better beef and holding back on the overkill of toppings. Don't get me wrong, I love toppings! But this was unedible. Burgers should not be paired with knives and forks. Bottom line. In a world where people default on ordering burgers from menus because it's the "safe" option, these burgers just don't cut it. The crowd: Not exactly young and lively. More the White Zinfandel sipping retirement folks, but hey, older can be wiser? It was nice inside, just sort of a snoozer. I half expected there to be a half off buffet...

Vinsetta Grill doesn't get enough love, in my opinion. You wouldn't know it from looking at the place, but V.G. has pretty good BBQ! In fact, they have several different styles of BBQ (Kansas City, Texas, St. Louis and Memphis styles, I think). The service was okay (nothing special, but not bad either). I recommend you give this place a shot. It's a nice alternative to Redcoat Tavern.

It is tuff to really enjoy a meal when the hostess (the old bat) was such a crow and hag right when you walk in. We waited for a booth, then she forgot we were waiting and gave the booth to people that just walked in. When we told her, she shrugged her shoulders and said "it will be about 15 minutes". we left. A couple weeks later we went again, same bat, same attitude. The service was SLOW, drinks overpriced (including non-alcoholic as well), and the meat, well it tasted cheap and was overcooked.

My favorite restaurant in Royal Oak, maybe all of metro Detroit! I don't understand the negative reviews.... Anyways... This place has amazing food and a ton of choices. Vinsetta has some of the best ribs I have ever tasted! They have the classic baby backs, but for the true rib fan out there, you should try the beef ribs. They look like something Fred Flintstone would order. I can barely eat four of them. Their sauce is homemade and right up my alley. It is similar to an Open Pit sauce. Their burgers rival Redcoat, in my opinion, and you can get anything you desire on them. The sides are amazing as well. The sweet potato fries are the best I've had. You can order them 50/50 which means you can half sweet potato fries and half regular, or half onion straws. A thing of 50/50 fries will fill up two people by itself. And forget the ketchup, dip everything in their homemade sauce. They always have great specials which sound so intriguing, but I can never get myself to steer away from the ribs. The wait staff is some of the best around, in my opinion. They take the time to explain things to you, and make suggestions, and make sure you have everything you need. P.S. They also have a Triple Decker Grilled Cheese, which I have seen walk by, and it looks amazing.

Fried dill pickle chips and a great grilled cheese sandwich for lunch? What's not to like? I'd been wanting to go back when I had someone with me who would share the order of fried pickles with me-and it's an app that is definitely large enough for two or more people to share. The pickles are very thinly sliced and covered with a crusty mix that has a little punch of black pepper in it. I also love the fact that they have grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu (too often, when a restaurant has grilled cheese sandwiches, they offer them only as kids menu items and don't allow adults to order--which is a pet peeve of mine!). Vinsetta Grill's version is a pretty straight-up grilled cheese sammy on white bread with a flavorful mix of several varieties of cheese. One of my dining companions had a burger, and the 1/3-pound version with a half-order of fries was more than enough for him. He liked the fact he could order exactly the toppings he wanted. I've been in here with my mom for lunch, and she wasn't wild about the tuna melt, which was on a pita bread. I had it as well and it was just OK--we'd prefer a nice tuna sandwich on toasted rye. The BBQ is decent (Tim and I have been in for BBQ ribs and chicken for dinner as well). This place seems pretty quiet during weekday lunch hours, and I remember it being a pretty typical neighborhood-type joint for dinner. No, it's not a hot nightclub, but for a decent lunch or informal dinner with friends, it's a nice option.

Oh Vinsetta Grill - you allow me to build my own burger, which I like doing... But you also make me dine with a lot of well-off old people who make loud derogatory comments about their gardners, which I don't like doing. Vinsetta Grill has a nice-sized menu with a variety of dining options, but when there is a piece of paper where I get to make decisions and check boxes and make an amazing hamburger... I have a hard time paying attention to the normal menu. Give me a burger. I was very pleased by the depth of the options in this build-your-own experience. Beef, turkey, veggie or chicken: I think it's fantastic that they include the possibility of a build-your-own grilled chicken sandwich. Maybe one day I will try it - but this visit, I needed a burger. The cheese and sauce options are better than I could have imagined and the list of 4 "free" toppings was expansive enough that I could have made a delicious burger without adding to the base cost... but then I wouldn't have been able to have hickory smoked bacon on my burger, and that would have been a crime. My masterpiece was cooked exactly as I requested, was a towering jaw breaker even though I ordered the 1/3 pound variety, and left me more than satisfied. My one and only complaint was that they need to find a better quality bun. It just couldn't handle the amazing stack of food sitting on top of it and turned into a nasty wet mess in my hands forcing me to pick up the old knife and fork. Also of note is that I found the service to be quite good - especially because the staff did not make me feel bad about the fact that I OBVIOUSLY don't even have a gardener to make derogatory comments about if I wanted to. :)

EPIC BURGER FAIL. Perhaps the chef's brain was pulverized into oatmeal after being assaulted by only a mere hour of the stupendously dreadful top 40 auto-tune miasma that SOMEONE working the floor thought was inconspicuous enough to please everyone (especially the older clientele) except that IT WASN'T. Still, that I could almost deal with. It was the burgers that really disappointed (see "chef's brain" above). They were much smaller and did not arrive as ordered (I still don't know how anyone can mistake a decisive "well" for "rare") and the toppings were sparse ($1 extra for THREE slices of avocado? A wan pile of washed-out looking olive slices next to--not on--the burger?). And the onion rolls... ...were as stale as the sonic backwash swimming around our ears. This visit was so bad it tempts me to swipe Vinsetta from the rotation completely, but I won't. However, it will be a while before I go back. Just please, PLEASE be too crowded for me to hear the aural jaundice.

Wanted to put zero stars but yelp wont allow it, therefore, my rating is 1 star. Horrible hostess. Even more Horrible manager - treating our four top of thirty something's like we were half-wits; we were all dressed in business casual attire and drinking wine. After waiting an hour for our food we asked to see the manager and he responded with a quip that we "were not at McDonald's". Along with other insults. Friendly wait staff. Kitchen is horrible on busy nights like Fridays. I've been twice, second visit on 1/13/12 was a complete disaster Beware.

Having been to Vinsetta Grill 3 different times, I figured I should write a review. Now, on 2 occasions I ordered the Build-a-burger, which is really good. Cooked to order, juicy, they don't scrimp on the toppings you order and really, it's delicious, there's really not much more to say about the burger other than eat it. We ordered the Onion Loaf one time and that was really tasty, and a large is enough for four people to munch on while chowing down on the aforementioned burger. Where I start to take issue with Vinsetta is the non-burger entrees and the sides. I had the baby back ribs on the other visit I made, and while good, they were still a little lacking in flavor and saucing. I also think the pricing for some of the entrees and the sides is maybe a bit high compared to other "nicer casual" restaurants. I will keep going back for the burger though, it's reasonably priced and yummy.

I just went back to Vinsetta for the 3rd time and was sadly disappointed...This is the first time I've been while it is busy so that may have played a role. My brother and I went back specifically for the chicken tenders and the onion strings, and they were both disappointing! The onion strings were far less flavorful, cold, and a much smaller portion...which didn't make sense because we ordered the same thing. The chicken tenders were not as crisp and seemed to get sort of soggy. I'm not sure what happened, but I hate it when restaurants are not consistent-its SO important!! Plus our server in the bar sucked! He was totally clueless, never came to check on us, and was super slow!

This is one of those places you will drive by and never be inspired to go in, but I recommend that you do... Vinsetta Grill (VG) offers really good food for reasonable price. On my last visit, I had New York Strip steak - it was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and super tender. In addition to my steak, I had fresh steamed broccoli, and cottage cheese -- mmm. I know you are thinking: "cottage cheese as a side-dish at restaurant outside of Mayberry.." But I say thank you VG for this excellent side-dish, because I LOVE COTTAGE CHEESE. In addition to steak, VG offers build your own burgers, ribs (very good ribs prepared in three different ways), and seafood. I give VG two thumbs up. Check it out.

Fail-Burger! So a friend of mine and I went seeking an interesting burger...didn't happen here. Let's start from the beginning: Pickle Chips-good but salty. Didn't need anything on them, which actually disappoints me, I like dipping things into condiments. Fries-displayed fancy all cone-shaped Belgian style, not impressive. Burgers-overcooked, tasteless beef. Buns fell apart in our hands. Really disappointed me because it seemed they took their burgers seriously with the make-your-own sheet an all. Toppings were weak, floppy, tasteless or just plain salty. Shining star: the garlic aioli was to DIE for! Wanted just a thing of that to dip fries in.

Decided to come here the other night since I have been driving by it for almost 3 years now. Just OK. Nothing spectacular, but have had much worse. The service was a tad slow. Slow to get our drinks, slow to take our order, slow to do pretty much everything. That left a pretty sour taste in my mouth, but I'm not one to really complain. The food was very good though. I couldn't decide between all the rib choices, so I opted for the Star Studded Sampler, which is a plate of all 4 of their ribs. They were all cooked very nicely and the flavor was great. My favorite was the beef ribs. If I go back, I will getting a plate of just those. The sides were good. I went with sweet potato fries and green beans, which were fresh cut. I'm in no rush to go back. The service really sucked, but I will give it another try.

I've driven by this place a million times but just stopped in for the first time earlier this week. I am glad that I did! I wish that I had been going here sooner. The ambiance is a lot more fun than I had imagined and the food was great! The booth we got in the corner was very coozy and private, so I suggest grabbing a booth. The menu's variety is good with everything from steaks, to seafood, chicken, as well as pasta dishes. The steak I had was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. I had some of my fiance's Salmon which was very good as well. Though I haven't had the burger yet, it's been listed as one of the best burgers in the Detroit area by several area papers and magazines. But trust me, I will be back to sample it very soon.... Prices are not bad either, pretty basic compared to other places.

I'm throwin one up for carnivores in the house, since the other two reviews of this place are from a vegetarians view (no harm, just not my style) and it's GOT to have a meat eater's side! The burgers rock this joint. I got only the 1/3 pound burger (optional 2/3 and 1 pound) and it was as much as I could handle. You get a menu of toppings and choose what you want; choose your cheese, 4 standard toppings, extras are $.50, and custom toppings that cost $1 each, avocados were on this list. I had cheddar, jalapenos, red onion, pickles and lettuce. It was delicious and I gobbled the whole thing up. I had a Nut Brown Ale from Motor City Brewing Works and it was savory (yuhhuh... savory). Trying to learn a thing or two about beer before my fellow Yelpers run me out of town for drinking Miller Lite! Suckers. Side note awesome addition to the night is there was a couple at the bar that was fighting right next to us while we were having a drink and waiting for our table! They were going at it... pretty entertaining. He had a big wooly moustache too (not unlike Marco's goatee) and that made it all the more awesome.

Like so many other have noted, I've passed Vinsetta Grill a multitude of times without ever setting foot inside it. It was suggested this evening and I thought to myself, "I don't remember Vinsetta having great reviews," but just like lunch today (Brooklyn Pizza), someone else was taking care of the bill, so I figured I'd find out for myself at no risk to myself. The Pros: +You get to build your own burger, which is something they're known for. +They give you a truly generous choice of toppings in the categories of cheese, non-cheese toppings, the kind of bun you want (if any), and the kind of flesh you'll be consuming (beef, turkey, chicken, veggie) as well as the amount of flesh you want (1/3 lb, 2/3 lb, 1 lb) and you get to choose one cheese and 4 non-premium toppings without adding extra cost (the base is $7.99 for 1/3, $9.99 for 2/3 and $12.99 for 1 lb). +When I say generous options, I mean bleu cheese, herbed goat cheese, gruyere, etc., grilled onions, grille pineapple, pepperoncinis, roasted corn and black bean salsa, red onions, roasted chiles, etc.) +The toppings are really delicious +The server offered to get us new burgers when we told him they weren't cooked properly (he asked) The cons: + Both medium-rare burgers that were ordered were cooked as if they had been ordered "medium"--little or no pinkness. +The meat just wasn't that good. It tasted cheap and dry +The fries are a la carte (and got cold very quickly--before I got a chance to eat them) +The price doesn't match the quality +It's a bit stuffy, dress-wise (and I say this as one who was dressed appropriately, having come straight from work) +Which is to say that the VG seems to be trying to create an atmosphere that's classier than both its food and its patrons, perhaps in an effort to justify the price I had a 2/3 lb burger (way too much in retrospect--I left the better part of a patty on my plate) with herbed goat cheese spread (yummm!), roasted red peppers, and grilled onions on an onion roll. The roll was soggy and disintegrating to the point where I had difficulty picking it up. My friend's salad had wayyyyy too much dressing on it (order dressing on the side if you go). The fries chilled quickly. The burger toppings, as I mentioned, were great, especially the goat cheese, which had been applied surprisingly generously. But the problem is that the vehicle for these toppings (the meat) just wasn't good. That's a guaranteed fail. I'm sorry VG, but I won't be coming back.

Ate here for the first time tonight and was please with our overall experience. I too was surprised with the negative reviews because I had a great first impression. My boyfriend and I both built a burger, mine beef and his turkey, and we were both pleased. We got there around 8 on a friday night and only had to wait about 5 minutes. Our server, Alicia, was nice, polite and attentive. It was the first time in awhile where we had a good dining experience all around and will definitely return.

Wife and I took my mother out for her birthday, never tried this place, so why not? Mom and I ordered the baby back ribs and the wife built her own burger. The burger was ok, nothing special, but it was nice to have such a large selection of toppings. The ribs were pretty good, the sauce was on the sweet side but they did give it to you on the side. I think another review said something about it tasted like open pit, I would agree with that. We also ordered the onion log. While the onion rings themselves were pretty good, I have to say, figuring out how to eat it was a challenge. The service was ok and so was the atmosphere.

Wow. Holy sweet potato fries! Vinsetta has the best in the area! They come in a fancy spiral cone thing and are light and crisp! I was very impressed. I ordered the veggie burger with iceberg lettuce, tomato, spicy sour cream sauce (very good), and grilled onion. This burger was so flavorful; I didn't even notice the meat was missing! Neither did my (anti-vegetable) boyfriend. He even enjoyed it! The martini list was notable. Will be coming here again =) Next time for the ribs!

I've never had a burger at Vinsetta, so I can't comment on those reviews. I go there every couple of months or so when I get a craving for their ribs. The baby-back ribs are excellent - tender and moist, nicely sauced - consistently excellent time after time. Their fish and chips are also good. We got the chicken tenderloin and the ribs. The chicken tenderloin and the potato soup that I got with it were above average. However, my girlfriend's ribs had some bone fragments and the corn she got was mush. We did not get bread until after our entrees were served (we had to ask for it). We thought that while the food was good except for the issues above, that it was not the best value for the dollar.

Even though most come for the meat, I only order their salads. They are simple in design but the romaine is always fresh and crisp. The baked potato is crisp and salty - yummy. They also have pasta and fish but I would stick to the salads, ribs, and burgers. The atmosphere is typical neighborhood style.

I got a tuna melt. It was the complete opposite of a tuna melt. The pita was hard and the tuna was cold. The cheese was nasty and not even warm. I also got onion strings which were more like charred onion strings. Never coming here again. The food was horrid.

Careful, folks, this isn't the hipster joint across the street, this is just a regular old restaurant. Had dinner there last night because we wanted to try something new but didn't want to wait in line anywhere, and this turned out to be a great choice. We started with the onion...thing (loaf? they called it something strange). It tasted just fine, but I couldn't see any advantage to serving deep-fried onions in a weird tangle instead of just as onion rings. Still, tasty. I built my own burger, and the meat was perfectly seasoned and cooked, and the toppings i chose worked well together (grilled onions, grilled pineapple, swiss cheese, bbq sauce + mayo). My companion had the prime rib dip, and I intend to try that next time! My only small complaint is that the burger, which was something like $13, didn't come with fries or salad or anything. Just the burger. We split a tiramisu for dessert, and while not the most authentic version I've ever had, it was delicious. Overall, a great place to grab dinner once in a while.

Not going back! My husband and I ordered a burger and Reuben sandwich. Waited over 30 minutes. Burger arrived...nothing on the plate...not even a pickle spear. Ordered onion straws and they were NOT brought out with our order. Finished eating and still no onion straws. Waitress never came back to let us the know the status. A lemonade was $3.75...tasted like a powder mix. Seriously.

I haven't been to this place in a very long time, but I'm so glad I did. The food was so yummy and the portions were big, so if you're hungry, this is the place to go! I did the "build your own burger" and I had the turkey burger and sweet potato French fries. The sweet bbq added the perfect topping! Our waiter was a little pushy, but nothing disturbing. My friend had the salmon and she said it was just as amazing! Looking forward to going back there soon! I wonder what's the different between the grill and the garage.

Grabbed an early dinner with a childhood friend of mine. Thursday afternoon around 3:00, the "hostess" didn't speak to us, she simply grabbed two menus and walked toward a booth. It took a while for the waitress to acknowledge us, the restaurant was very empty. We were never told about the specials. The chicken tenders were just okay (not seasoned well), Mac 'n cheese was very bland, the garlic mashed potatoes were good and the broccoli cheese soup was good too. The bread was hard, the wait time for our food was a bit long. We noticed that "the regulars" were acknowleged . However another "hostess".was standing at the door and did speak or thank us for spending our money in their establishment. Nice restaurant....Doubt if I'll ever go back I did not feel welcome ;(

Went out on Monday night with my SO and we were quoted around a 30 minute wait, but it was only about ten! Great start. Our waitress took a few minutes to get to us but was efficient. Didn't offer deserts but whatever. He had the vegan burger and said it was really good, and the mac and cheese. I had the Chop shop salad and it was AWESOME. I got the ham and onions on the side. Glad I did, the ham was too smoky/spicy for me. My boyfriend ate all of the onion strings though. The Detroit Locker drink was Realllly good, and I had the house red and it was just like it said, Broke ass lol but ok Overall will be back. Love the atmosphere.

We chose this place because it was a weekend evening and most places around this area have a huge wait. This place didn't seem overly crowded but had enough cars in their parking lot (a parking lot being a one-up on most places in Royal Oak) that it is good enough to attract repeat customers. The no-wait situation I attribute to it not being trendy like the (admittedly better) place across the street with its parking and waiting issues. I'm not a big rib person. I like them but it's not something I order at a restaurant. That being said, I didn't order what seems to be their specialty. Not much on the menu was really calling out to me though. I started with a bowl of French onion soup. The soup was good with a generous layer of melted cheese on top. I ordered a dish that I think was called Santa-Fe Chicken or something like that. It wasn't bad but not something I'd order again. A boneless breast with barbeque sauce and melted cheese on it served on a bed of rice pilaf. Not bad but nothing I'd order again. The price seemed a bit high for what it was. There may have not been a wait to get a table but it took a long time for the food to show up. I don't like to trash places too hard on Yelp unless they really really deserve it, and I don't think this place deserves it. By the time I had looked over the menu I figured this just wasn't my kind of place. Food- Soup was good. Olive Garden breadsticks? Main course was decent but unimpressive. Value- Not terribly overpriced but seemed a bit high for what it was. Service- Pretty slow, but they were fairly busy. Maybe if I was more in the mood for ribs I would have liked it more. They seem to do good business, but it's just not my kind of place.

So I think all the positive comments about decor and service are actually about the Vinsetta Garage across the street. This is the old make your own burger joint that used to have good burgers. No one greeted a party of 5 for a solid two min when we entered. Dark is the best way to describe the inside. Waitress was friendly. Ordered got the apps and she never checked back. Empty waters for 5 glasses and no waitress. When the food came it was very blah. Medium means some pink, even just a little. All the burgers came back well done 45 min later. Missing fries that came when I was done with the burger. No manager, just looked like 7 girls walking around trying not to work. Did not complain once but she apologized. She already knew it was a terrible experience eating there. Should have turned around when we weren't greeted.

Wow. I can see why this place is popular. The Upsides: great decor, great beer selection, great service, great food including world-beating macaroni. Huge portions. Reasonable prices. The Downsides: Parking. Forget trying to find a space, just use the free valet parking (don't forget to tip the valets). Noise: the interior is loud when it's crowded - and from what I'm told that's constant. We lucked out and got seats by the windows, which is a much quieter area. The size of the menu - so hard to choose with all the selections available. We had curds and cheese covered fries for appetizers. Two of us had pasta bowls, one had the stuffed poblano pepper and I had one of the gourmet Mac and cheeses - the one with the ground beef. There were so many good menu options I want to go back in spite of the noise level and try more. If you've read some of my other reviews you know how I hate restaurant noise - but that's how good the food is.

Just go, and don't be deterred from the line, the wait will be worth it. I took my wife & 16 month old kid there and they both loved it. My son loves Mac & cheese and gobbled it right up. My wife got the vegan burger but with a real burger and loved it. Service was good and they have a good beer selection.

Can't go wrong with new menu item, Prime Rib Dip. Old-style sandwich bread baked to perfection and a perfect compliment to a very generous portion of savory sliced prime rib. The bread is perfectly softened by plenty of dip deliciousness provided. I added an order of sweet potato fries - - these were made perfectly, probably the best I have ordered in the area - not greasy, crisp and tasty and well presented. If you're in the Royal Oak area and tired of overpriced parking meters (IF you can find parking), and overly loud and crowded restaurants where you can hardly hear your company, then do yourself a favor and give Vinsetta Grill a try if you haven't already or in a while. It's fun, friendly, relaxed and I have found it to be one of the nicest places to dine locally. The Prime Rib Dip is a home run hit and what prompted me to write this review, though...pictures next time!

Visited with some locals who are regulars; while I enjoyed my ribs (mexican, spice was nicely spicy) I clearly ordered wrong when I saw the burgers. They are massive, they look juicy and a burger is what I will get when I visit again.

Decent. Had the Fettucini Alfredo only because they were out of my first choice - Filet Mignon. Pretty basic. Breadsticks were delish! Waitress was friendly but never offered an appetizer and just started taking orders. Bill took really long to bring - and the kids were starting to get antsy. Biggest pet peeve: it was my first time there and the the menu had NO descriptions on it! And the waitress was moving so fast she didn't give us a chance to ask any questions. Biggest plus: wait for a table of 7 only took about 30 minutes.

I'm reviewing all the 3 star joints at once I guess... I've been there a few times. We get the build your own burger - there are good things and bad about the place. The good: usually the wait isn't terrible. Even when it looks bad, it is probably only 10 minutes or so. The bar makes good mixed drinks. I know others feel it is pricy, people in my party think they make good martinis. If you've had a bad one, you appreciate a good one. The onion loaf and fries are little fried plates of heaven. The servers are typically great with the exception of what is listed below... Anyway they usually are good with refills and are not snobby. The bad: I can't figure out if the hostess is an a-hole or what but she is snippy. The more you come the better she gets but when you first start coming it isn't very welcoming. The staff hovers around the hostess stand and makes you feel like you are imposing when you want to get a table. Sometimes they are simply complaining about next week's schedule, but when I am standing there waiting for a table, I don't care that you have to work a double next Thursday. The first few toppings are free for the build a burger, but then they add on price if you get extra. I think that is chintzy. Don't charge me $.40 for extra pickles, just give them to me...geez. The turkey burger is dry.

Not sure that I really have complaints or I just expected something different. Didn't have reservations so we totally expected to wait, and we did, about 30 minutes. My issue is the attitude the older white woman has. She does not greet anyone when they approach the hostess station. You have to tell her what you are there for, how many, and then you have to ask what the wait time will be. She never really offers or asks you anything, just kind of stares at you in an unwelcoming way. The food was good and burger simply huge. Drinks are a tad weak for the price. Not sure this should be considered one of the best places in the area, but it is good. Just needs a few tweaks for me.

I keep hoping that when I go to Vinsetta Grill that they will update their menu. My boyfriend always gets the fried shrimp which are really good, but I choose more healthy meals like chicken. And each time I've had the chicken, with yesterday being no exception, it is rubbery, like it came out of a microwave. No grill marks, not even fake ones. Hoping that they will provide some other choices, like wraps and different salads than the traditional Caesar or Sante Fe.

Don't confuse this place with Vinsetta Garage, which is located across Woodward on the west side. I was supposed to meet my cousin at Vinsetta Garage and came here by mistake. If you do end up here by mistake, order the onion ring appetizer. It's really tasty and will tide you over until your cousin starts calling wondering what's taking you so long to meet him at Vinsetta Garage. Then you pick up and you're like, "dude, i AM here," then he's all like, "my ass you're here, I don't see you," only for him then to be like, "wait, are you at that Vinsetta Grill place across the street?," and then you're like, "FUCK, I'll be over there in a minute let me close out this tab."

This place is just awful. My husband had a Build-A-Burger and I had the Onion Soup and Chicken Strip platter. The burger/beef was flavorless and the onion and tomato where sliced an inch thick each making it impossible to eat so took them off - leaving just cheese and pickles. He eats a lot of burgers and said, unequivocally, this was probably one of the worst he's had. My Onion Soup was really salty and the Chicken strips where completely bland. They are chicken strips, how can they not have flavor? Paper dipped in ranch would have tasted better.

I guess I was expecting better. We went there mainly because we didn't feel like waiting a hour at the Garage. We got a seat right away and parking was not a issue so that was the plus. Our drinks arrived promptly and we ordered appetizers. The pickle chips are good, nothing special. The bread basket was less then impressive with breadsticks with garlic salt. I ordered the NY Strip with mac and cheese and corn on the cob. Boy was I unimpressed. The steak was the farthest thing from tender. only about a half inch thick. No seasoning at all and was tough to chew. The mac and cheese could of easily been made out of a box and the corn on the cob was way overcooked and extremely soft. How do you mess up corn on the cob? My wife had the shrimp kabobs and she said they tasted good. Overall not impressed at all, especially for the price. I do not plan on returning.

This is one of my favorite places. I'm suprised to see so many negative reviews. This is my place. I love the ribs. The mac and cheese is some of the best I've ever had. Second probably to Slows BBQ alone. The build your own burger is great! And the turkey burger is super tasty, juicy and well spiced. The only complaint I'd have is that the lack of TVs, one maybe 2 tiny tiny ones makes this place an awful place for sports watching. Which I suppose has its pros and cons. No rowdy crowd but I also cant see the Tigers score. Ill keep going, and keep enjoying. I wish they had better reviews.

Service was great, atmosphere was enjoyable, however the menu was not impressive and felt it was slightly* over priced. The menu has fine dining pricing but the restaurant does not in any way have the feel of a fine dining establishment, it is very simplistic. I had the "Sante Fe Salad" and although it was a large salad, it was very boring and lacked the majority of ingredients that would qualify it as a Sante Fe Style Salad... the salad, mostly a lot of Romaine lettuce and lightly* garnished with cherry tomato, shredded cheddar cheese and bacon crumbles. No Salsa, no avocado, no black beans or corn salsa, no spices or seasonings.... it was just a massive pile of lettuce. My date had the Salmon, it was cooked to perfection and tasted very fresh but was a very small portion. The dish was piled high with arugula and plenty of Green Beans over compensating for the lack of Protein. Not impressed. I will not return nor recommend.

Nice atmosphere but extremely overpriced. We were shocked when the bill came. The food was acceptable but the only thing worth mentioning in the review were the sweet potato fries. Whatever you do don't order a drink. They charged us 7.50 for a weak jack and coke.

I liked the cozy atmosphere of the place, and the fried pickle appetizer. The turkey burger was very dry, and our wait time for the food was 2 hours. Most disappointing was the tiramisu. They obviously took it out of the freezer minutes before it was served to me, and was mostly frozen. Meh!

I have a confession to make. Originally I wanted to go to my usual hotspot, Vinsetta Garage, but the wait was over an hour, so instead we decided to hop over across the street and try this place. I wasn't disappointed! They have a build your own burger menu...which satisfied my burger craving. The waiter was awesome. They screwed up a couple of my burger toppings but he made sure to bring them out ASAP and comped our coffees at the end because of their mistake. The fries have to be ordered a la carte, but you get huge portions, so they're big enough to split between two people. Cream puff for dessert...that was yummy! I definitely wouldn't mind coming back here.

Food was wonderful tonight, ate way too much. My Roast beef with au jus sauce was soo yummy. The carrot cake was amazing. Add a glass of Stella Rosso and I'm in heaven. Maybe it's because I was starving. Maybe it's because we found this place en route to another restaurant that we love. Or maybe the waitress had PMS. However it was, the odds were stacked against the grill that night. Here's the part that drew us in--yes, there were people. Tables full, wait staff bustling, and the outside sign is pretty. Also, the place we were initially headed toward was another fifteen or twenty minutes away, and I had the hungry NOW belly. Husband had the sick of driving brain, so we stopped. Unfortunately, finding a place and ordering right away did not mean our food would arrive promptly. The ache grew. I had ordered a Caesar salad and the Triple Decker Grilled Cheese, with visions of all that comfort cheese to alleviate the hurt and the cranky. But I think the waitress had other ideas. Drinks were late, salad was late, dishes were never cleared (like... empty glasses, big empty salad plate, still no entrees out.) When the food finally arrived, I realized to my dismay that the grilled cheese touting three different kinds of cheese is a little overwhelmed by the three huge grilled pieces of Texas-style toast. So much bread! So little cheese! Maybe three Kraft singles total or something. Also, my husband's grilled tuna was cold with a tiny slice of unmelted cheese under the tuna. Add, a tomato. It's easy to hate the reviews that are based on a single bad moment. I've since read really good things about Vinsetta Grill. But the real tell for me is that whenever I think of giving it another chance or even a second star, I see our waitress slamming down plates full of dry and under-developed food next to our dirty plates and glassware... And again I feel that nervous hopelessness in my stomach. Yes, it was one bad time, but I can't think of a reason (even for the burger options list) to give it another chance. Ugh, okay. Maybe for drinks or something, but you're buying.

We decided to come here after finding out the line across the street was 1.5 hours at 9 p.m.. My boyfriend had come here at lunch a few years ago and found it ok... This time we were pleasantly surprised! The bread was delicious, the service was great and the portions were quite large. The salad I ordered was big enough for about 3 full meals! It is a completely different atmosphere than the popular Vincetta Garage across the street, as this place is very dark and pretty quiet. The service was great! I didn't have dessert because I was so stuffed!!!! I would give this place a shot.

I have long thought the food at Vinsetta Grill was solid. My husband and I like to go there for their steak and ribs. Which is why I chose to go there for a little, post-work birthday celebration with my husband and her mother. But tonight we had a terrible, review-worthy experience, made worse by the owner's telling me over the phone "to come see him next time we come in" after I called him to complain. As if we'll be back. My husband has declared NEVER! First of all, we sat down with two guests and had a drink order taken. This order never, ever arrived. So we hunted down another waitress to get it. And she brought over the milk we ordered for our toddler, forgetting all the other drinks. This would be the last time we would be asked whether we wanted anything to drink. And it's worth noting, we were never given water. Our waitress took our dinner order, forgetting to ask what types of dressing we wanted on our salads, which turned out to not be importance since she never brought the salads that came with our dinners anyway! After a very long time waiting for food (since we never received water, bread or salad), we asked if we could have bread and water. Our waitress was completely annoyed at this question, perhaps because a bus boy or girl should have taken care of this? But irregardless, she was rude about it. Eventually, we got water and bread. But still not our other drinks. At this point, we had been here for well over a half hour and everybody at our table was talking about how bad our service was and starting to get mildly stressed out. I was also embarrassed that I had recommended the place. Several times, I considered getting up and complaining, but didn't do so only because I was with my husband's mother and her friend. Anyway, our dinner entrees arrived and were delicious, as usual. However, our waitress screwed up all the vegetable orders, forgetting who ordered green beans, corn and spinach. And never bothering to get it right. Our waitress also served our steaks and ribs with this: "Oops, I didn't bring enough steak knives" ... she was one short ... And then, she never came back with another one. (OK, I guess we'll share knives. We're family.) We ate the whole meal with no inquiry about whether we wanted more water, needed any sauces or anything. Let alone dessert, which was only important because, as I mentioned, it was my birthday. My mother-in-law could not locate the waitress to surprise me with a birthday treat, so she hunted down somebody else and I was brought a delicious little red velvet cupcake treat with a candle in it. She never asked if anybody else wanted anything desert-wise or coffee for that matter. By then, the meal was so anticlimactic it was nearly funny when the cake arrived. Everybody at my table was stressed out from such a terrible experience and felt bad. Ultimately, the bill was also incorrect. The waitress charged us for the creamed spinach that never arrived and when my husband pointed this out, she pointed out in return that she didn't charge us for the red velvet cake and left that off the bill because she felt bad for not delivering our salads! I have never had such a lousy dining experience anywhere - let alone on my birthday. I felt terribly guilty that my mother-in-law picked up the tab, too. Not to mention the fact I chose the place. So now, the best part! Upon leaving, I call the owner of the restaurant and recount this disaster to him. To which he says: Thanks for calling and come see me when you come in next time! Seriously?! I guess I'll try to enjoy my leftovers.

Should've listened to the reviews, but I was curious. After an evening trying to understand the strange decor (rustic contemporary?), indulging in slightly-under baked potato skins (a generous portion of 6), and the most underwhelming reuben I've made the miscalculation of ingesting (three slices of bread, the middle of which soaked up all the sauce and therefore was un-removeable), I can't say I'll be returning. My co-eater had a design-your-own burger, which he said was "simultaneously overwhelming and underwhelming (poor sauce flavor, overcooked red peppers, the smallest burger -1/3 lb - too large, etc)." Before your meal, expect them to bring out some bread for the table, which is basically garlic salt on oddly-sweet bread. This means you'll inhale it, but be left in satisfied. In the words of the wise, "I've never been here before- and now I know why. If you've never been here, you're not missing anything."

What a find! I've driven by Vinsetta Grill about one thousand times and I was intrigued but thought it would be too swanky for my budget. I was wrong. The menu consists of steak and seafood and ribs, but it also has many other less expensive options. From what I've experienced the taste and quality are superb. I had to go with the burger because of the options that you select on a half sheet of paper that is provided on each table. There is a choice of beef, turkey, veggie or chicken breast in 3 sizes (1/3 pound to 1 whole pound of meat). Each burger can also be "bunless" and eaten in a salad-like form. Each burger comes with a selection of cheese from the mundane (swiss) to the extraordinary (horseradish cheddar, feta, bleu, herbed goat cheese). Then one selects four toppings with special toppings for an extra cost that run the gamut from the typical garden, to the pickled, to chili and onion straws and even the bizzare (hard boiled egg). Then a sauce is selected, which doesn't include the typical ketchup and mustard (these are complimentary) but includes a whole range of different sauces to compliment any hamburger. The hamburgers come a la carte and fortunately there are many fried sides to accompany them for a small price. I tried the sweet potato fries which were crisp with a soft interior and had a great flavor. I prefer my sweet potato fries with honey, but no dip was served with them in the paper cone. The best item at the Vinsetta grill is the deep fried dill pickle chips which are amazing and served with ranch. I recommend them to anyone. They are not very sour but have a great flavor. The restaurant has a full bar with a few specialty drinks. I had the sidecar, which is hard to find since most places don't have brandy. The drink had a lot of ice so it got a little watered down, but it was really good. Next time I would have it shaken and served up. The restaurant is decorated very well. The interior is somewhat dark which makes the restaurant homey and warm with brightly colored walls and interesting architecture. The other delight was our server, Tammy, who was attentive, funny and a delight to have dinner with. I hope to go back to the Vinsetta Grill several more times in the future.

We've lived in the area for two-years now, and have always been curious about Vinsetta Grill. Upon our entrance, we were happy to see that it was somewhat busy and there was a decent buzz about the place. Unfortunately, the food did not match the decor, and we were wondering if the other patrons were on their first visit too...because there is no reason to frequent the Vinsetta Grill. First impression, we were presented with bread-sticks to start, and they were hands-down the saltiest bread-sticks my wife and I had ever eaten. We ordered an appetizer (spinach/art dip), and it came to our table literally boiling hot, accompanied by an extraordinary amount of tortilla chips. Unfortunately, the dip was not good...and could have been caused by our tongues being burned at first taste. Entree, I ordered the "Top-choice" Teriyaki Sirloin-MR-extra char. I received, however, a very RARE steak, with decent flavor, but only about 60% could be enjoyed due to such a poor cut of meat (full of tendons)! I presented my concern to the careless waiter, and was met with zero attempt to customer satisfaction. My wife ordered the daily special, which was a Pasta Alfredo...but, of course, protein was extra. Her dish was decent, but can easily be replicated by visiting the frozen section of your local grocery store. All in all, this was not a very good experience. You can get a better steak at Texas Roadhouse, and a better pasta at Kroger. Don't eat the bread-sticks if you have high blood pressure. Having passed by Vinsetta Grill thousands of times, and having heard rave reviews about their burgers (and beef ribs), I finally visited when I heard they had veggie burgers, unlike Redcoat Tavern. Even though the burgers are reasonably priced and taste fine, and include 4 toppings, fries, side salads, and soft drinks are overpriced to the point that your eyes might bulge from your sockets when you get your bill. I came with 2 "real" burger eaters, who weren't that impressed either. On one occasion it was busy, and the service buckled, big time. The next time we visited, it was not busy at all, but the service was still very slow. I'd pick Red Coat Tavern over Vinsetta any day, and I can't even eat anything at RCT!

My wife, grand daughter and I visited Vinsetta Grill (11-09-12, around 6:45 pm). We just left left the house, with no place in mind (as we often do) looking for something new. We stopped in and I felt this was a great choice. Our service was great and the food great! I am very picky, because I cook. My grand daughter had chicken tenders and fries. My wife had a chefs special, Fettuccine al Fredo w/ chicken. I had the Star Studded Sampler Platter. The tenders were not that good, which is why my grand daughter, was all over my wife's Fettuccine. My platter had a sample of all their ribs. All of them were good!! I am not a beef rib fan, Loved theirs. Loved the salad and cole slaw (very picky about slaw!!!). This place is great, take it from someone who travels all over and looking for great food!

This dining experience was so so. Nothing horrible, but no food choice I made was so compelling to return right away. It is a nice restaurant to catch up with friends. The booths are comfortable and the waitress didn't seem to mind us chatting for a few hours. I had the French Onion Soup...it was good, not spectacular but good. I also got the BLT - decent sandwich. There were no complaints, just no major fireworks.

My husband and I have this problem where we live like slobs and rarely do the dishes or grocery shop. So this makes for often ill-planned meals and lots of wasted gas while we drive around in a rage with no idea where to go. Even though we usually have a short list in mind of places we someday want to try, they never come to mind during this "pergatory." But on this one night I recommended the VG, where I've been wanting to go because of the rumor of Red Coat-like burgers. (Personally, Red Coat isn't worth the wait/noise/diarrhea to me) So, we went. First of all, this is a nice restaurant! Low-lit, comfortable, nice mix of newer music on the speakers and the service was top notch. We were promptly greeted the moment we entered the restaurant and our server was on top of everything. The menu was really diverse and, I felt, well-priced for the variety. Nightly specials are a plus. We both ordered burgers and here comes the hard part... It's NOT a Red Coat-like burger. Allow me to elaborate. The burgers go in 1/3lb or 2/3lb increments - but you don't actually get a bigger burger, you just get a single or a double. I did find the meat to be flavorful and juicy, and the variety of toppings was adventurous and they did arrive generously portioned. The buns they use are garbage. Like, not even toasted wonderbread garbage. I ordered my burger with caramelized onions (that were really only grilled, not actually caramelized), roasted garlic aioli (which was really kind of flavorless), sharp provolone cheese (also flavorless), shredded lettuce (whatevs) and pickles (also whatevs). BUT - my burger was a perfect medium (this never happens). Honestly, it was a LOT like a Red Robin burger but with a better variety of available toppings. The REALLY disappointing part was that the 1/3lb burger is $8 without any side and it's $10 if you want the 2/3lb burger without a side. We ordered the 50/50 fries & onion straws on the side for an additional $5, but it's an inadequate amount of sides. So for $23 we each got a burger and shared a side. So why four stars (my husband probably thinks I'm too generous)? I liked the atmosphere, service, food and overall feel. I'd rather eat a Red Robin burger at Vinsetta Grill than at Red Robin, and the better service and ambiance is worth the price to me. PLUS - it's an independent place and the rest of the menu looked great. This was the kind of restaurant that when I walked in I immediately started planning in my mind who I could eat dinner with here (like what family members or friends would dig this place). That's a good sign. I hope to be back soon, and I'll probably eat the burger.

The Good: The Pickle Chips are really pretty incredible. Tasty pickles fried to perfection- giving them a crisp outer shell- paired with a delicious ranch dipping sauce. I haven't tasted anything quite like this, and for that and only that, I gave Vinsetta an extra star from my initial 2 star impression. The Bad: Ok, so I couldn't have been more excited with anticipation of having the whole "Build Your Own Burger" option. There are tons of great choices of toppings and sauces on their menu. So it's cool that you can take your burger in any variety of flavor directions. Traditional, Greek, you name it. There's even an option to have your burger in a bowl if you're into the low carb diets. I wanted to go somewhat traditional so I opted for a burger with: horseradish cheddar cheese, dill pickles, yellow onion, pepperoncinis, tomatoes on their "Hamburger Bun." Perhaps the bun is where I went wrong? My burger was not medium as promised, it was definitely well. The meat itself tasted old so no amount of toppings mounted on top took away from the underlying truth. The beef used was just plain bad! Then to top it off, the bun could not hold the huge mountain of toppings so I had a horrible mess of burger innards piled up on my plate. So in my opinion, the Vinsetta Grill could benefit by investing in better beef and holding back on the overkill of toppings. Don't get me wrong, I love toppings! But this was unedible. Burgers should not be paired with knives and forks. Bottom line. In a world where people default on ordering burgers from menus because it's the "safe" option, these burgers just don't cut it. The crowd: Not exactly young and lively. More the White Zinfandel sipping retirement folks, but hey, older can be wiser? It was nice inside, just sort of a snoozer. I half expected there to be a half off buffet...

Vinsetta Grill doesn't get enough love, in my opinion. You wouldn't know it from looking at the place, but V.G. has pretty good BBQ! In fact, they have several different styles of BBQ (Kansas City, Texas, St. Louis and Memphis styles, I think). The service was okay (nothing special, but not bad either). I recommend you give this place a shot. It's a nice alternative to Redcoat Tavern.

It is tuff to really enjoy a meal when the hostess (the old bat) was such a crow and hag right when you walk in. We waited for a booth, then she forgot we were waiting and gave the booth to people that just walked in. When we told her, she shrugged her shoulders and said "it will be about 15 minutes". we left. A couple weeks later we went again, same bat, same attitude. The service was SLOW, drinks overpriced (including non-alcoholic as well), and the meat, well it tasted cheap and was overcooked.

My favorite restaurant in Royal Oak, maybe all of metro Detroit! I don't understand the negative reviews.... Anyways... This place has amazing food and a ton of choices. Vinsetta has some of the best ribs I have ever tasted! They have the classic baby backs, but for the true rib fan out there, you should try the beef ribs. They look like something Fred Flintstone would order. I can barely eat four of them. Their sauce is homemade and right up my alley. It is similar to an Open Pit sauce. Their burgers rival Redcoat, in my opinion, and you can get anything you desire on them. The sides are amazing as well. The sweet potato fries are the best I've had. You can order them 50/50 which means you can half sweet potato fries and half regular, or half onion straws. A thing of 50/50 fries will fill up two people by itself. And forget the ketchup, dip everything in their homemade sauce. They always have great specials which sound so intriguing, but I can never get myself to steer away from the ribs. The wait staff is some of the best around, in my opinion. They take the time to explain things to you, and make suggestions, and make sure you have everything you need. P.S. They also have a Triple Decker Grilled Cheese, which I have seen walk by, and it looks amazing.

Fried dill pickle chips and a great grilled cheese sandwich for lunch? What's not to like? I'd been wanting to go back when I had someone with me who would share the order of fried pickles with me-and it's an app that is definitely large enough for two or more people to share. The pickles are very thinly sliced and covered with a crusty mix that has a little punch of black pepper in it. I also love the fact that they have grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu (too often, when a restaurant has grilled cheese sandwiches, they offer them only as kids menu items and don't allow adults to order--which is a pet peeve of mine!). Vinsetta Grill's version is a pretty straight-up grilled cheese sammy on white bread with a flavorful mix of several varieties of cheese. One of my dining companions had a burger, and the 1/3-pound version with a half-order of fries was more than enough for him. He liked the fact he could order exactly the toppings he wanted. I've been in here with my mom for lunch, and she wasn't wild about the tuna melt, which was on a pita bread. I had it as well and it was just OK--we'd prefer a nice tuna sandwich on toasted rye. The BBQ is decent (Tim and I have been in for BBQ ribs and chicken for dinner as well). This place seems pretty quiet during weekday lunch hours, and I remember it being a pretty typical neighborhood-type joint for dinner. No, it's not a hot nightclub, but for a decent lunch or informal dinner with friends, it's a nice option.

Oh Vinsetta Grill - you allow me to build my own burger, which I like doing... But you also make me dine with a lot of well-off old people who make loud derogatory comments about their gardners, which I don't like doing. Vinsetta Grill has a nice-sized menu with a variety of dining options, but when there is a piece of paper where I get to make decisions and check boxes and make an amazing hamburger... I have a hard time paying attention to the normal menu. Give me a burger. I was very pleased by the depth of the options in this build-your-own experience. Beef, turkey, veggie or chicken: I think it's fantastic that they include the possibility of a build-your-own grilled chicken sandwich. Maybe one day I will try it - but this visit, I needed a burger. The cheese and sauce options are better than I could have imagined and the list of 4 "free" toppings was expansive enough that I could have made a delicious burger without adding to the base cost... but then I wouldn't have been able to have hickory smoked bacon on my burger, and that would have been a crime. My masterpiece was cooked exactly as I requested, was a towering jaw breaker even though I ordered the 1/3 pound variety, and left me more than satisfied. My one and only complaint was that they need to find a better quality bun. It just couldn't handle the amazing stack of food sitting on top of it and turned into a nasty wet mess in my hands forcing me to pick up the old knife and fork. Also of note is that I found the service to be quite good - especially because the staff did not make me feel bad about the fact that I OBVIOUSLY don't even have a gardener to make derogatory comments about if I wanted to. :)

EPIC BURGER FAIL. Perhaps the chef's brain was pulverized into oatmeal after being assaulted by only a mere hour of the stupendously dreadful top 40 auto-tune miasma that SOMEONE working the floor thought was inconspicuous enough to please everyone (especially the older clientele) except that IT WASN'T. Still, that I could almost deal with. It was the burgers that really disappointed (see "chef's brain" above). They were much smaller and did not arrive as ordered (I still don't know how anyone can mistake a decisive "well" for "rare") and the toppings were sparse ($1 extra for THREE slices of avocado? A wan pile of washed-out looking olive slices next to--not on--the burger?). And the onion rolls... ...were as stale as the sonic backwash swimming around our ears. This visit was so bad it tempts me to swipe Vinsetta from the rotation completely, but I won't. However, it will be a while before I go back. Just please, PLEASE be too crowded for me to hear the aural jaundice.

We just got back from a lovely dinner at Vinsetta Grill. If you don't believe me, please see the pictures Ryan posted. When thinking about dinner options for this evening I turned to Yelp (fancy that!) and suggested we revisit the Vinsetta Grill since Ryan had a favorable experience there last year and I hadn't yet had the pleasure. So VG has some fabulous offerings. The appetizers ranged from a typical spinach-artichoke dip to beyond encroyable deep-fried dill pickle chips! The four of us dining all had a build your own burger entrée. With this option the diner had the choice of Beef, Turkey, Veggie, or Chicken burger and a huge variety of toppings. Mine this evening was a veggie burger (amazing!) topped with feta cheese, grilled pineapple, hard boiled egg, mixed greens, dill pickle slices, and a lovely garlic aioli all served on an onion roll. The burgers all have the option of being 1/3, 2/3, or 1 pound sizes. I think that the 1/3 pound I had was more than filling, and well worth the $7.99. The burgers are not served with a size but they do have various ones that can be ordered from standard fries, to a combo of fries and onion straws, or even corn on the cob. If you're not fancying a burger they also had a lot of ribs, chicken, seafood options and salads. Sundays are half off bottles of wine! We split one among the four of us and figured that $3.5 wasn't that bad for a glass and a half of vin. Colin, our excellent server, even offered us a basket of breadsticks which were really great too. I almost don't know how we all finished these burgers. I was really amazed that it stayed mostly together while eating it and I only really had to break out the knife and fork after being half way through. I would definitely return. For what was just a little bit more than a standard meal at Robin Rouge we had a bottle of wine and an appetizer, granted there were not never-ending fries, but there were also not legions of screaming children and other undesirable noises.

Wanted to put zero stars but yelp wont allow it, therefore, my rating is 1 star. Horrible hostess. Even more Horrible manager - treating our four top of thirty something's like we were half-wits; we were all dressed in business casual attire and drinking wine. After waiting an hour for our food we asked to see the manager and he responded with a quip that we "were not at McDonald's". Along with other insults. Friendly wait staff. Kitchen is horrible on busy nights like Fridays. I've been twice, second visit on 1/13/12 was a complete disaster Beware.

Everyone raves about Redcoat, but Vinesetta is just as good without the crowds and the wait. If you haven't been, they have a full menu, but the big draw is the build your own burger with tons of different cheeses, toppings, condiments, and goodies.

Having been to Vinsetta Grill 3 different times, I figured I should write a review. Now, on 2 occasions I ordered the Build-a-burger, which is really good. Cooked to order, juicy, they don't scrimp on the toppings you order and really, it's delicious, there's really not much more to say about the burger other than eat it. We ordered the Onion Loaf one time and that was really tasty, and a large is enough for four people to munch on while chowing down on the aforementioned burger. Where I start to take issue with Vinsetta is the non-burger entrees and the sides. I had the baby back ribs on the other visit I made, and while good, they were still a little lacking in flavor and saucing. I also think the pricing for some of the entrees and the sides is maybe a bit high compared to other "nicer casual" restaurants. I will keep going back for the burger though, it's reasonably priced and yummy.

I just went back to Vinsetta for the 3rd time and was sadly disappointed...This is the first time I've been while it is busy so that may have played a role. My brother and I went back specifically for the chicken tenders and the onion strings, and they were both disappointing! The onion strings were far less flavorful, cold, and a much smaller portion...which didn't make sense because we ordered the same thing. The chicken tenders were not as crisp and seemed to get sort of soggy. I'm not sure what happened, but I hate it when restaurants are not consistent-its SO important!! Plus our server in the bar sucked! He was totally clueless, never came to check on us, and was super slow!

This is one of those places you will drive by and never be inspired to go in, but I recommend that you do... Vinsetta Grill (VG) offers really good food for reasonable price. On my last visit, I had New York Strip steak - it was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and super tender. In addition to my steak, I had fresh steamed broccoli, and cottage cheese -- mmm. I know you are thinking: "cottage cheese as a side-dish at restaurant outside of Mayberry.." But I say thank you VG for this excellent side-dish, because I LOVE COTTAGE CHEESE. In addition to steak, VG offers build your own burgers, ribs (very good ribs prepared in three different ways), and seafood. I give VG two thumbs up. Check it out.

Fail-Burger! So a friend of mine and I went seeking an interesting burger...didn't happen here. Let's start from the beginning: Pickle Chips-good but salty. Didn't need anything on them, which actually disappoints me, I like dipping things into condiments. Fries-displayed fancy all cone-shaped Belgian style, not impressive. Burgers-overcooked, tasteless beef. Buns fell apart in our hands. Really disappointed me because it seemed they took their burgers seriously with the make-your-own sheet an all. Toppings were weak, floppy, tasteless or just plain salty. Shining star: the garlic aioli was to DIE for! Wanted just a thing of that to dip fries in.

Decided to come here the other night since I have been driving by it for almost 3 years now. Just OK. Nothing spectacular, but have had much worse. The service was a tad slow. Slow to get our drinks, slow to take our order, slow to do pretty much everything. That left a pretty sour taste in my mouth, but I'm not one to really complain. The food was very good though. I couldn't decide between all the rib choices, so I opted for the Star Studded Sampler, which is a plate of all 4 of their ribs. They were all cooked very nicely and the flavor was great. My favorite was the beef ribs. If I go back, I will getting a plate of just those. The sides were good. I went with sweet potato fries and green beans, which were fresh cut. I'm in no rush to go back. The service really sucked, but I will give it another try.

I've driven by this place a million times but just stopped in for the first time earlier this week. I am glad that I did! I wish that I had been going here sooner. The ambiance is a lot more fun than I had imagined and the food was great! The booth we got in the corner was very coozy and private, so I suggest grabbing a booth. The menu's variety is good with everything from steaks, to seafood, chicken, as well as pasta dishes. The steak I had was cooked perfectly and tasted delicious. I had some of my fiance's Salmon which was very good as well. Though I haven't had the burger yet, it's been listed as one of the best burgers in the Detroit area by several area papers and magazines. But trust me, I will be back to sample it very soon.... Prices are not bad either, pretty basic compared to other places.

I'm throwin one up for carnivores in the house, since the other two reviews of this place are from a vegetarians view (no harm, just not my style) and it's GOT to have a meat eater's side! The burgers rock this joint. I got only the 1/3 pound burger (optional 2/3 and 1 pound) and it was as much as I could handle. You get a menu of toppings and choose what you want; choose your cheese, 4 standard toppings, extras are $.50, and custom toppings that cost $1 each, avocados were on this list. I had cheddar, jalapenos, red onion, pickles and lettuce. It was delicious and I gobbled the whole thing up. I had a Nut Brown Ale from Motor City Brewing Works and it was savory (yuhhuh... savory). Trying to learn a thing or two about beer before my fellow Yelpers run me out of town for drinking Miller Lite! Suckers. Side note awesome addition to the night is there was a couple at the bar that was fighting right next to us while we were having a drink and waiting for our table! They were going at it... pretty entertaining. He had a big wooly moustache too (not unlike Marco's goatee) and that made it all the more awesome.

Like so many other have noted, I've passed Vinsetta Grill a multitude of times without ever setting foot inside it. It was suggested this evening and I thought to myself, "I don't remember Vinsetta having great reviews," but just like lunch today (Brooklyn Pizza), someone else was taking care of the bill, so I figured I'd find out for myself at no risk to myself. The Pros: +You get to build your own burger, which is something they're known for. +They give you a truly generous choice of toppings in the categories of cheese, non-cheese toppings, the kind of bun you want (if any), and the kind of flesh you'll be consuming (beef, turkey, chicken, veggie) as well as the amount of flesh you want (1/3 lb, 2/3 lb, 1 lb) and you get to choose one cheese and 4 non-premium toppings without adding extra cost (the base is $7.99 for 1/3, $9.99 for 2/3 and $12.99 for 1 lb). +When I say generous options, I mean bleu cheese, herbed goat cheese, gruyere, etc., grilled onions, grille pineapple, pepperoncinis, roasted corn and black bean salsa, red onions, roasted chiles, etc.) +The toppings are really delicious +The server offered to get us new burgers when we told him they weren't cooked properly (he asked) The cons: + Both medium-rare burgers that were ordered were cooked as if they had been ordered "medium"--little or no pinkness. +The meat just wasn't that good. It tasted cheap and dry +The fries are a la carte (and got cold very quickly--before I got a chance to eat them) +The price doesn't match the quality +It's a bit stuffy, dress-wise (and I say this as one who was dressed appropriately, having come straight from work) +Which is to say that the VG seems to be trying to create an atmosphere that's classier than both its food and its patrons, perhaps in an effort to justify the price I had a 2/3 lb burger (way too much in retrospect--I left the better part of a patty on my plate) with herbed goat cheese spread (yummm!), roasted red peppers, and grilled onions on an onion roll. The roll was soggy and disintegrating to the point where I had difficulty picking it up. My friend's salad had wayyyyy too much dressing on it (order dressing on the side if you go). The fries chilled quickly. The burger toppings, as I mentioned, were great, especially the goat cheese, which had been applied surprisingly generously. But the problem is that the vehicle for these toppings (the meat) just wasn't good. That's a guaranteed fail. I'm sorry VG, but I won't be coming back.

Ate here for the first time tonight and was please with our overall experience. I too was surprised with the negative reviews because I had a great first impression. My boyfriend and I both built a burger, mine beef and his turkey, and we were both pleased. We got there around 8 on a friday night and only had to wait about 5 minutes. Our server, Alicia, was nice, polite and attentive. It was the first time in awhile where we had a good dining experience all around and will definitely return.

Wife and I took my mother out for her birthday, never tried this place, so why not? Mom and I ordered the baby back ribs and the wife built her own burger. The burger was ok, nothing special, but it was nice to have such a large selection of toppings. The ribs were pretty good, the sauce was on the sweet side but they did give it to you on the side. I think another review said something about it tasted like open pit, I would agree with that. We also ordered the onion log. While the onion rings themselves were pretty good, I have to say, figuring out how to eat it was a challenge. The service was ok and so was the atmosphere.

Had a short wait and a very pleasant server (I think his name was Dave), but the food was tremendously disappointing. Terribly greasy grilled cheese (not buttery - OILY); nausea inducing French onion soup. Very good beef ribs, acceptable grilled chicken. I'll try anything once, and that's about where we are here :(

Good food and good service at a fair price, but certainly nothing special. Every time I can remember filling out the form to build your own burger, they get at least one thing wrong and the buns tend to be a little less than fresh. That said, I still have no problem going back there occasionally.

Wow. Holy sweet potato fries! Vinsetta has the best in the area! They come in a fancy spiral cone thing and are light and crisp! I was very impressed. I ordered the veggie burger with iceberg lettuce, tomato, spicy sour cream sauce (very good), and grilled onion. This burger was so flavorful; I didn't even notice the meat was missing! Neither did my (anti-vegetable) boyfriend. He even enjoyed it! The martini list was notable. Will be coming here again =) Next time for the ribs!

On my first visit to Vinsetta Grill I thought the food was great! I have been back 5 times since and keeping thinking that maybe they are having an off day. I usually order a burger which are my favs and they always come out wrong mostly overcooked. I find that funny since a main attraction is build your own burger. Thought last time I would try something different and went for the fish and chips. Just so so. Will keep them on my rotation list but will not be back for awhile.

I've never had a burger at Vinsetta, so I can't comment on those reviews. I go there every couple of months or so when I get a craving for their ribs. The baby-back ribs are excellent - tender and moist, nicely sauced - consistently excellent time after time. Their fish and chips are also good. I've never had a problem with service and have been there many times.

We got the chicken tenderloin and the ribs. The chicken tenderloin and the potato soup that I got with it were above average. However, my girlfriend's ribs had some bone fragments and the corn she got was mush. We did not get bread until after our entrees were served (we had to ask for it). Service was not bad but not outstanding. Prices were significantly higher than listed on allmenus.com . We thought that while the food was good except for the issues above, that it was not the best value for the dollar.

Even though most come for the meat, I only order their salads. They are simple in design but the romaine is always fresh and crisp. The baked potato is crisp and salty - yummy. I have tasted the Saint Louis Sweets which has been perfected. Many options for bar food. A burger menu that includes turkey, veggie, and burger in a bowl option with tons of different toppings. They also have pasta and fish but I would stick to the salads, ribs, and burgers. The atmosphere is typical neighborhood style.
